Privacy Policy

UsedStuff is operated by Used Stuff Market Place Ltd ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data the UsedStuff app collects, why, who we share it with, and your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. UsedStuff is for users aged 18 and over.

1. Data We Collect

  • Account details: Your full name, email address and phone number, collected when you register. Your password and optional security answer are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.
  • Profile details: Display name, city and state.
  • Location: If you allow it, the app uses your phone's location to show items near you and to set the area of your listings. We save only your town and state, not your exact position.
  • Listings: Item photos, title, description, brand, condition, price and area.
  • Seller payout details: Bank name, account number and account name, to pay you for items you sell.
  • Orders: Your purchase and sales history, payment status, deliveries, refunds and disputes, including any dispute photos and notes.
  • Find It requests: The search terms you save, so we can notify you of a matching item.
  • Reports and blocks: Listings you report and sellers you block.
  • Notification token: A device code that lets us send you notifications, if you allow them.

We do not collect: your card details (you enter these on Paystack's secure page, and we never see or store them), messages between users (the app has no chat), your contacts, camera or microphone, or any analytics, advertising or tracking data. Face ID and fingerprint sign-in are handled entirely by your phone. Items you save are stored only on your phone.

2. How We Use Your Data

To run your account; show and sell listings; process payments, hold them until delivery is confirmed, and pay sellers; handle refunds and disputes; send order, payment and Find It notifications and emails; keep the marketplace safe (reports, blocks and removing listings that break our rules); and meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. Who We Share It With

Only service providers that help us run UsedStuff, and only what each needs:

  • Paystack: Payments, refunds, payouts and bank account checks.
  • Supabase (database) and Render (server hosting): Store and process app data.
  • Cloudinary: Stores listing and dispute photos.
  • Resend: Sends emails such as verification codes and password resets.
  • Expo, Apple and Google: Deliver push notifications.
  • OpenStreetMap: Turns your phone's location into a town name.

Other users see your listings and your seller name. We may also share data where the law requires it.

Some of these providers store data outside Nigeria. Where they do, we rely on safeguards allowed under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

4. How Long We Keep It

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we erase your personal details. If you have past orders, we keep the order and payment records (without your personal details) for as long as the law requires, so the other party's records stay complete.

5. Your Rights

You can see and update your details in the app at any time. You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete Account), or ask us to delete it at:

You can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to stop certain uses, by emailing support@usedstuffs.com.

You have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Payments are handled by Paystack, and we never store card details.

7. Changes

We will update this page and the date above if this policy changes.
